Hello! How are you? This week, I will be discussing self care, wellness and creativity.
You Time
Do you ever feel like you need some time to yourself? To take the opportunity to just "be"? Yep. Me too.
BUT how do we find time??!! Life can be hectic, lets be honest.
Whether you have a busy job, a family or you're simply navigating life's day to day demands. We all as a society tend to juggle a lot.
I always know after a long week I will be needing time for myself to either, rest, do yoga or even just sleep (I love an afternoon nap!).
What is becoming more and more clear is that if I don't have time to recuperate this can have a huge knock on effect to how I feel.
So - we all know rest and time for ourselves is important, but HOW do we FIND TIME....
Do you want to know the truth? I don't know....
This is something I still have to consciously work on and maintain awareness about - however what I will say is this...
Rest / relaxation / down time / you time etc can come in many different forms.
I used to be quite formal about my rest time and it would almost always be something like yoga, meditation, bath, sofa time.
Now I am being a bit more fluid about how I can find time to chill...
I recently started feeling drawn to doing other things as my down time. For example cooking a big meal, writing, making bracelets (a bit random but I love making friendship bracelets).
Then it dawned on me, that a part of my down time is heavily influenced by creativity.
So, I suppose instead of just resting maybe giving yourself space to create could be the key.
And what if we created for the sake of creation. Not for anyone else, or to be appreciated by others or to be seen as beautiful or not.
But to just c r e a t e
If you are still not sure if creativity is your bag. Do any of these statements sound familiar?
If time or money was no object I would happily either paint furniture, write a novel or make a meal from scratch every day
Ideas flow freely to me but seeing them through can be difficult
I am able to easily appreciate other peoples unique creations
I like things to be a little quirky, unique and fun
I love to set intentions, goals and desires regularly
I often wish I had more time to finish projects or fun things
I feel relaxed when making things and take my time
I feel ambitious and love to hatch new plans
If you resonate or connect with any of the above statements, it would suggest you enjoy creative hobbies or tasks and it could be something you wish to focus on.
Let's get creating
OK - so now is a good time as any to get the creative flare ignited.
Considerations for Creativity & your Wellbeing
Whatever you create, make, paint, write, knit, cook etc, you do so from your heart without trying to please anyone else. Create for YOU and you alone...
You can think of your creative time as self expression & a fundamental part of your personal development or spiritual practice
Keep a journal of what you make and how it made you feel
Notice how the more you create the easier the inspiration will come
Pay attention to feelings of non-motivation and resistance to your creativity. This is completely normal and will often pass.
Let it all be about your own personal joy and fulfillment
